Here are five highlights:

1. The Bauerfeind Sports Elbow Brace is intended to stop the arm from fully extending during a pitching motion.

2. The brace still allows the pitcher to feel a full range of motion, therefore not impacting performance.

3. During a study, researchers found the brace prevented hyperextension of the elbow in healthy players.

4. Injured players may also benefit from the brace, as it subdues inflammation, swelling, bone spurs and pain. The brace may be used post-Tommy John surgery to reduce pain and future injury.

5. No study has proven both prevention and protection yet, which is the ultimate goal.
