The WatchTower navigation and robotics system merges a preoperative CT scan with 2D imaging to produce real-time 3D images of a patient’s spine during procedures, according to a news release. It eliminates the need for intraoperative imaging, minimizes surgical time and reduces radiation exposure.

“Speed of workflow was very impressive, including a decrease of set up time and implementation for the entire staff,” Dr. Villalobos said in the release. “A fast, accurate, and inexpensive spine navigation system makes the equipment installation at an ASC very feasible.”

Dr. Villalobos is a neurosurgeon with the Central Florida Neurosurgery Institute in Orlando.

At the Becker's 23rd Annual Spine, Orthopedic and Pain Management-Driven ASC + The Future of Spine Conference, taking place June 11-13 in Chicago, spine surgeons, orthopedic leaders and ASC executives will come together to explore minimally invasive techniques, ASC growth strategies and innovations shaping the future of outpatient spine care.
