Dr. Hasselman performed the procedure at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. The ToeMotion system consists of a metatarsal-based HemiCAP implant and a new inlay metal baseplate with a poly insert for the phalangeal side of the joint, which aims at providing fixation and preserving bone.
Arthrosurface received clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for the ToeMotion system in March.
