Dr. C. Lowry Barnes named medical director of MicroPort Orthopedics

Medical device company MicroPort Orthopedics appointed orthopedic surgeon C. Lowry Barnes, MD, as medical director, according to an Oct. 5 news release.

Dr. Barnes was involved with MicroPort Orthopedics’ predecessor company and was a design surgeon for several of its implants. As medical director, he will be involved with many aspects of decision-making including education, product development and clinical research.

He also works as chair of orthopedics at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences Health in Little Rock. He specializes in total joint surgery and is on the editorial board of many scientific journals.
