The system includes a low-profile needle preloaded with two PEEK backstops and a proprietary ORTHOCORD suture. The system is designed for physicians to employ all-inside techniques, which is a less invasive surgery than the traditional inside-out or outside-in approach. The system also includes a disposable applier and needles with three available angle options for horizontal, vertical or oblique configurations.
The ORTHOCORD Suture is made from ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene and the resorbable PDS, which minimizes tissue abrasion and leaves less suture mass on the meniscus over time. Additionally, the suture knot is tied in the back of the meniscus, avoiding contact with femoral condyles.
