CareFusion Releases 11-Gauge Vertebral Balloon for Spinal Fracture Treatment

CareFusion has launched its 11-gauge vertebral balloon, a device that allows spine surgeons to repair vertebral compression fractures that are more difficult to treat due to their size and location in the spinal column, according to a company news release.

The device is the latest addition to CareFusion’s AVAmax Vertebral Augmentation System. It is designed to make spinal procedures less invasive without compromising clinical efficacy. The new vertebral balloon meets the pressure and volume requirements of legacy vertebral balloons, and its tungsten radiopaque tip allows excellent visibility for safe deployment of the balloon in the vertebral body.
