Brainlab acquires video game startup for physician training

Medical technology company Brainlab on June 29 acquired Level Ex, a Chicago-based startup that develops video games to improve physicians’ clinical skills.

Three things to know:

1. Brainlab is integrating Level Ex software into a virtual sales tool for its ExacTrac X-Ray patient position and monitoring system.

2. The acquisition will expand the reach of Level Ex, which plans to launch video games in several specialties, including orthopedics and oncology, in the next year.

3. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
