Baxano Surgical & US Department of Justice Reach $6M Settlement

Raleigh, N.C.-based Baxano Surgical reached a $6 million settlement with the U.S. Department of Justice to settle its federal investigation related to an October 2011 subpoena.

The $6 million settlement, plus 2 percent accrued interest, will be paid in nine quarterly installments beginning July 2013. The company admits no wrongdoing as part of the settlement.

Baxano will undertake compliance training and monitoring by HHS and the Office of Inspector General for five years.
