Amedica/US Spine’s First Total Hip Replacement Device Successfully Implanted

Amedica/US Spine, a spine and reconstructive implant and instrument manufacturer based in Salt Lake City, recently launched its first silicon nitride total hip implant, according to a company news release.

The implant uses an Infinia silicon nitride ceramic femoral head as part of the total implant. The company partnered with Orthopaedic Synergy to develop and market the total hip and knee replacement implants.

The first implantation of the Infinia silicon nitride ceramic femoral head in a hip replacement recently occurred at George Provincial Hospital in Western Cape, South Africa.
