Here are five key notes:

1. The Saber Yankauer, a handheld intracavity illuminator with integrated Intelligent Photonics for total hip replacement can improve workflow efficiency and patient safety. The technology delivers volumetrically uniform, thermally cool, bright illumination inside the surgical cavity to enable surgeons to see when they’re operating.

2. All of the surgeons surveyed about Saber Yankauer agree the technology delivers improved visualization of critical structures and anatomical landmarks during THA.

3. Ninety-two percent of the surgeons reported Saber Yankauer helped them overcome challenges in locating and controlling bleeders; 92 percent also said the technology improved surgical efficiency.

4. Eighty-three percent of the surgeons reported improved ease and precision due to improved visualization of the acetabulum during exposure and preparation.

5. Eighty-three percent of the surgeons using Saber Yankauer improved aspects of patient safety because the technology minimized contamination risk and thermal burns. The technology also allows visual inspection of the cavity to help prevent unintended retained foreign objects.
