Zimmer Biomet, Apple adding key features to joint replacement app

Spinal Tech

Zimmer Biomet is adding key new features to its mymobility app with Apple Watch for hip and knee replacement patients, according to a June 22 announcement.

The app will use gait metrics in the Apple Watch and iPhone to collect walking speed and double support time when walking on flat level surfaces without GPS.

Launched in October 2018, mymobility aims to address joint replacement patient issues without the need for an in-office visit.

The mymobility  app syncs to an Apple Watch, so researchers can combine patient-reported feedback with continuous health and activity data.

Later this year, Zimmer Biomet plans to share data from its mymobility clinical study on the impact on patient outcomes and overall costs for joint replacement patients.
