The following statistics are from an Objective Health infographic detailing orthopedic surgeons’ brand loyalty.
• Sixty percent of orthopedic surgeons are loyal to one brand of knee implants, whereas 40 percent are loyal to two or more brands.
• Only 1 percent of brand-loyal orthopedic surgeons switches brands within a year.
• Thirty-five percent of hospitals have successfully consolidated to one brand of knee implant, whereas 65 percent have consolidated to two or more brands.
• Hospitals using one brand tend to have fewer orthopedic surgeons than those with two or more brands. Hospitals with one brand have an average of 3.1 surgeons compared with hospitals with at least two brands, which have an average of 4.6 surgeons.
