Orthopedic partnership brings robotic joint replacements to New York hospital

Hamilton, N.Y.-based Community Memorial Hospital launched a robotic surgery program in partnership with Hamilton Orthopedics Spine and Sports Medicine, The Daily Sentinel reported April 5.

Richelle Takemoto, MD, of Hamilton Orthopedics Spine and Sports Medicine, completed the first joint replacement using the Velys robot in February with the hospital’s surgical team. After training and certification, Dr. Takemoto launched the robot in the hospital.

Community Memorial Hospital is the second hospital in the state to implement the technology.
