The first cases using Velys Spine were completed at Mayo Clinic Rochester (Minn.) and Medical City Frisco (Texas), Johnson & Johnson Medtech said in a June 26 LinkedIn post.
Isador Liberman, MD, and Arjun Sebastian, MD, performed the debut surgeries. Velys Spine launched in August, and the robot is designed to plan and instrument spinal fusions.
In June Nemours Children’s Hospital in Wilmington, Del., added Velys Spine with Suken Shah, MD, leading the hospital’s robotic program.
