Four things to know:
1. Globus Medical’s ExcelsiusGPS combines a robotic arm with navigation to improve accuracy in the placement of screws during spine surgery.
2. Dr. Khai Lam, consultant orthopedic surgeon at LBH, is the first surgeon in the U.K. to be trained on the ExcelsiusGPS robot.
3. The device allows for screw placement in various approaches including posterior cervical, posterior thoracic sacroiliac and posterior lumbar.
4. ExcelsiusGPS, which costs around $1.5 million, aims to streamline the surgical workflow and reduce radiation exposure to surgeons and staff.
