Kentucky health system adapts robot for spine surgery

Louisville, Ky.-based Norton Healthcare adapted the Mazor X robotic surgical system for spinal surgery, reports Spectrum News 1.

Three things to know:

1. The Mazor X system helps reduce pain and decreases postoperative recovery time.

2. The device’s imaging technology and GPS system helps surgeons plan procedures, place screws more accurately and improve spine surgery efficiency.

3. Mazor X guides the surgical arm into position and translates the surgical plan to trajectory guidance during surgery.
