Holy Name Medical Center adds spine robot

Teja Karukonda, MD, performed the first robotic spinal fusion at Teaneck, N.J.-based Holy Name Medical Center, NJ Biz reported April 10.

The hospital added Globus Medical’s ExcelsiusGPS system that combines robotic assistance and 3D intraoperative imaging. 

“The collaboration between the surgeon and the robot is transformative,” Dr. Karukonda said in the report. “While the surgeon remains at the helm, the robotic assistance enhances precision, safety and efficacy, leading to optimal patient outcomes.”
