Dr. Trevor Pickering debuts hip replacement robot

Trevor Pickering, MD, of Mississippi Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Center in Jackson, performed the nation’s first robotic hip replacement surgery with Zimmer Biomet’s Rosa system, according to a Sept. 23 LinkedIn post.

Along with the debut surgery, Dr. Pickering achieved another milestone. He’s the first orthopedic surgeon in the world to use Rosa for a total knee replacement, robotic partial knee replacement and robotic hip replacement all in the same day.

Dr. Pickering is a joint replacement specialist and was one of the surgeons who pioneered one of the first outpatient joint replacement centers in the U.S.
