1. Stryker’s Mako robot combines 3D preoperative planning, haptic technology and data analytics to improve outcomes for total hip replacements and partial and total knee replacements, according to the company. The system is designed to prevent soft tissue damage for greater bone preservation.
2. Dr. Nelson specializes in sports medicine and joint replacement of the knee, hip, hand and wrist, and shoulder and elbow.
3. He practices with Heartland Orthopedic Specialists, as part of Alexandria, Minn.-based Alomere Health.
4. After his residency at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, Dr. Nelson served nine years in the U.S. Air Force, where he received valuable trauma experience during a combat tour in Iraq.
