Decatur (Ala.) Morgan Hospital has added Velys robotic-assisted surgery for hip and knee replacements, according to a May 29 report from the Decatur Daily.
DOC Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine surgeon Justin Hallock, MD, has been using the robotic system since its acquisition in March.
The Velys robot goes hand in hand with Johnson & Johnson’s Attune Knee System to provide real-time data to surgeons, the report said.
The robot is designed to allow surgeons to perform more personalized, precise and efficient knee replacements, sending patients home faster with fewer complications, less blood loss and less postoperative pain.
