MemorialCare Long Beach (Calif.) Medical Center has performed two milestone procedures using Stryker’s Mako robotic technology.

MemorialCare is the first hospital in the world to complete a robotic hip revision using Stryker’s Mako Total Hip system with 5.0 Advanced Primary and Revision application. It was also the first hospital in California to use the Mako 4 SmartRobotics system in conjunction with Stryker’s Q Guidance System, according to an April 29 news release.

The expanded Mako Total Hip system offers advanced visualization for implant positioning, contributing to greater implant longevity and decreased risk for complications. The Mako 4 system provides more precise, customized procedures, as well as live tracking when used with the Q Guidance System.
