The robot has been used in anterior cervical discectomy and fusion, corpectomy, craniotomy, decompression, interbody fusion, laminectomy and tumor resection, according to a news release. It is designed to support minimally invasive approaches and consolidates operative data via a supercomputer.
The Maverick system uses a robotic arm and a headset that leverages augmented reality visualization. Surgeons control it hands free with head gestures.
The robot is an FDA-registered class I device, and Beyeonics Surgical is continuing its pilot launch in the U.S.
