Wisconsin hospital to expand orthopedic services with Mako system: 3 insights

SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital-Janesville (Wis.) will expand its orthopedic services later this month with Stryker’s Mako Robotic-Arm Assisted Surgery system, according to the GazetteXtra.

Here are three things to know:

1. The system will be used for full hip and knee as well as partial knee replacement surgeries.

2. Janesville residents currently must travel to Madison, Wis., or Schaumburg, Ill., to undergo surgery with the Mako system.

3. Orthopedic surgeon Brian Keyes, MD, will join St. Mary’s and perform joint replacement surgery with the Mako system.
