Princeton Community Hospital earns international hip, knee replacement certification

Det Norske Veritas of Norway and Germanischer Lloyd of Germany certified Princeton (W.Va.) Community Hospital as a Center of Excellence for hip and knee replacement, the Bluefield Daily Telegraph reports.

What you should know:

1. The hospital began the certification process in 2016.

2. The hospital started the process by partnering with Stryker and forming a multidisciplinary team at the hospital.

3. More than 100 people helped shape the hospital’s joint replacement program.

4. The DNV-GL team said it rarely awards the certification to community hospitals but said Community Hospital’s program was a “phenomenal program.”

5. Eighty-eight percent of the hospital’s patients go home the day after surgery.
