Here’s what you need to know:

1. The hospital is developing a series of 12 short animations called “Consent Plus,” which explains the surgical procedures and risks associated with hip or knee replacements.

2. The series will also discuss alternative treatment options to surgery.

3. Following the films, patients will be asked questions to ensure they understand the operation.

4. Thus far, two videos have been produced. The remainder will be created after the pilot program has been assessed.

5. The researchers say they will recruit 100 patients for the pilot program over the course of 15 months.
