There are 10 states in the U.S. that currently have fewer than three orthopedic surgeons for every 100,000 residents, and those shortages are only expected to increase over the coming years.

Torrance, Calif.-based Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, which is facing lawsuits related to a former orthopedic leader, has been placed on probation by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education, The Daily Breeze reported Nov. 3.

Patient-reported outcome measures are being increasingly utilized to evaluate the success of hip and knee arthroplasty procedures for patients, according to the American Joint Replacement Registry's 2023 annual report on hip and knee arthroplasty procedural trends and patient outcomes.
