Here are nine orthopedic and spine related fraud settlements from 2024 to know:

In early December, San Diego-based Scripps Health earned funding from the National Institutes of Health to develop the world's first "smart" shoulder replacement implant. 

The Toronto Maple Leafs, valued at $3.8 billion, is the most valuable team in the National Hockey League for the second year in a row, according to a Dec. 20 report from Forbes. 

Ross and Mary Whipple pledged $1.5 million to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, and a portion of that is going to support orthopedics, according to a Dec. 19 news release.  

Smith+Nephew earned FDA 510(k) clearance for its Coriograph pre-planning software and modeling services, according to a Dec. 19 news release.

Oklahoma City-based Integris Health has added Thomas Hsing, MD, to its orthopedic staff.
