Orthopedic surgeon to know: Dr. Michael Gilmore of Panhandle Orthopaedics

Michael D. Gilmore, MD, is a two-time board-certified orthopedic surgeon at Crestview, Fla.-based Panhandle Orthopaedics, a practice he founded in Aug. 2004.

Dr. Gilmore treats neck to toe with minimally invasive minimal incision surgical and non-surgical procedures.

 

Dr. Gilmore played college football at Gainesville-based University of Florida and has treated professional athletes since. He is a member of the Arthroscopy Association of North America, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and currently serves on the advisory board for the Florida State Association of Rehabilitation Nurses.

 

After obtaining his medical degree from the University of Florida, Dr. Gilmore stayed in Gainesville to complete his internship and residency at University of Florida Orthopaedic Institute, where he served as chief resident. He helped design the TMS Shoulder Pad Cooling System during his residency, an invention that was later incorporated into products such as the Douglas Custom Pro and Riddell Power Shoulder Pads.
