Orthopedic surgeon to know: Dr. Matthew T. Provencher of Massachusetts General Hospital

Matthew T. Provencher, MD, in addition to his role as a physician in the department of orthopedics, is the chief of the sports medicine service at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, and medical director for the New England Patriots. He is also a visiting professor at Harvard Medical School in Boston.

Dr. Provencher specializes in knee sports medicine and complex shoulder injuries. He also develops treatment programs for patients using joint resurfacing.

 

Dr. Provencher received his medical degree from Dartmouth Medical School in Hanover, N.H., and completed his residency at Naval Medical Center. Dr. Provencher also is fellowship-trained from Rush University Medical Center in Chicago.
