Orthopedic surgeon to know: Dr. Leesa Galatz of Mount Sinai Hospital

Leesa Galatz, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon and professor at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City.

Additionally, Dr. Galatz serves as the chairman of the orthopedics department at Mount Sinai Hospital. She is the first and only female chairman of an academy orthopedics department in the country.

 

Board certified in orthopedic surgery, Dr. Galatz is the associate editor of the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery and a peer reviewer for multiple orthopedic publications. She is also a primary investigator on two projects focused on rotator cuff degeneration and repair and tissue engineering.

 

Dr. Galatz earned her medical degree and completed her residency at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. She also underwent fellowship training at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.
