Orthopedic surgeon to know: Dr. James Tibone of Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic

James Tibone, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon with a special interest in sports medicine, shoulder, elbow and knee treatment. He is a surgeon at Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles and medical director of the University of Southern California Athletic Department. He is an associate consultant for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Lakers, Kings, Angels and Anaheim Mighty Ducks.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Tibone has authored more than 65 publications and facilitated more than 130 lectures. He is a past president of the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons and member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He serves as the North American editor for the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery.

 

Dr. Tibone earned his medical degree at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia and completed his residency at Harbor General Hospital in Torrance, Calif. His additional training includes a sports medicine fellowship at Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic.
