Orthopedic surgeon speaker spotlight: Dr. Raymond Hwang

Raymond Hwang, MD, is an assistant professor of orthopedic surgery at Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, and a spine surgeon at Boston Orthopedic & Spine. 

Dr. Hwang specializes in complex disorders of the back and neck and is experienced in robotic spine surgery.

He is also a fellowship-trained spine surgeon at New England Baptist Hospital Hospital, a musculoskeletal specialty hospital within Beth Israel Lahey Health in Boston, where he serves on the Institutional Review Board.

He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, a member of the North American Spine Society, a reviewer for The Spine Journal and is board certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery.

His clinical practice focuses on adult degenerative spine conditions, specializing in motion-sparing technology, minimally invasive approaches and robotic-assisted surgery. He is also an instructor for various contemporary spine surgery techniques including surgical navigation and robotics.

Dr. Hwang has also published several peer-reviewed articles, abstracts, book chapters and has an interest in medical device, surgical instrument and spine implant development. 

Dr. Hwang was also the first surgeon in the state of Massachusetts to perform spine surgery using the Mazor X robotic platform. 

Dr. Hwang is speaking at Becker’s 22nd Annual Spine, Orthopedic and Pain Management-Driven ASC + The Future of Spine Conference, set for June 19-21 at the Swissotel Chicago.
