Orthopedic surgeon pay up 1.8%

Orthopedic surgeon pay in the U.S. has reached an average of $378,250 a year, according to the latest data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, up 1.8% from the previous year’s data.

Data from May 2022 showed that orthopedic surgeons earned an average of $371,400 annually. Hawaii was the highest-paying state for orthopedic surgeons to practice at the time, with an average annual wage of $554,520. 

According to data from May 2023, the latest available, Minnesota is the highest-paying state for the specialty, with an average annual wage of $565,450.  

The data excludes data for pediatric orthopedic surgeons.
