Orthopedic surgeon, medical society president dies

Orthopedic surgeon John Noble Jr., MD, died June 11 at age 61.

Dr. Noble practiced orthopedic surgery in Louisiana for more than three decades and joined the Lake Charles, La.-based Center for Orthopaedics in 2000, according to his obituary. He cared for thousands of patients in the region and was involved in orthopedic research projects focused on hip and knee replacement.

Throughout his career, Dr. Noble held multiple leadership roles in physician advocacy organizations. He served as president of the Louisiana State Medical Society after being inducted into the role in August 2022. He was the organization’s 142nd president and only the fourth physician from Southwest Louisiana to hold the position in the society’s 143-year history.

Dr. Noble also served as president of the Louisiana Orthopaedic Association and was a member of the University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors. In 2023, he was recognized as McNeese Distinguished Alumnus of the Year and received the Southwest Louisiana Liberty Bell Award in 2026.

He earned his undergraduate degree from Lake Charles-based McNeese State University and his medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans.
