Orthopedic surgeon leaves role as hospital CEO

Orthopedic surgeon Mark Ciota, MD, is transitioning out of his role as CEO of Mayo Clinic Health System sites in Albert Lea and Austin, Minn.

Dr. Ciota has worked in leadership roles for 25 years, according to a March 26 news release. He was appointed CEO in 2012 as part of Mayo Clinic Health System’s efforts to consolidate management positions.

He will work as CEO until mid-summer and plans to continue working as an orthopedic surgeon.
