The facility petitioned the Leonardtown city council on Nov. 12 for approval for the practice. The two-story building would house the ASC and office building on the second floor, and would have a 5,000-square-foot daycare facility for staffers’ children.
The city would need to perform an $18.1 million expansion of the wastewater treatment facility to support the practice.
Southern Maryland Orthopedics currently employs nearly 100 workers at its existing locations and will add more at the new facility.
At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
