The orthopedic physicians, along with gastrointestinal physicians, are coming back after “extensive conversations” regarding supplies and staffing, the report said. They are now taking calls and performing emergency procedures at the Holy Family hospitals.

Holy Family is owned by Dallas-based Steward Health Care, which has struggled financially. The health system fell $50 million behind on its rent to Medical Properties Trust and is facing scrutiny from lawmakers and community members in response to the risk of hospital closures.

At the Becker's 23rd Annual Spine, Orthopedic and Pain Management-Driven ASC + The Future of Spine Conference, taking place June 11-13 in Chicago, spine surgeons, orthopedic leaders and ASC executives will come together to explore minimally invasive techniques, ASC growth strategies and innovations shaping the future of outpatient spine care.
