The biodegradable polymer coatings helped prevent methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus infections of implants in mice models.

The competition is an annual event organized by University of Maryland’s Clark School’s Fischell Department of Bioengineering in College Park and Johns Hopkins University’s Department of Biomedical Engineering in Baltimore.
