Michael Meneghini, MD, an orthopedic surgeon and CEO and founder of Noblesville-based Indiana Orthopedic Institute, has debuted Enovis’ Empowr partial knee replacement technology at the facility.

Dr. Meneghini, who co-designed the partial knee technology, performed the operation on hip and knee surgeon Brian Palumbo, MD, who also worked on the design.

Dr. Palumbo traveled from Florida to Indiana to undergo the procedure at IOI.

The Empowr device is designed to offer a less invasive knee replacement surgery, preserve healthy bone and tissue and maintain the patient’s natural knee function. It uses a blended plastic to promote device longevity and aims to streamline the operating process and allow for faster patient recovery, according to the release.

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
