1. Studies have shown that hip implants are successful for both young and older patients.
2. Two studies revealed that individuals who are younger than 50 and individuals older than 90 have both seen positive results with hip implants.
3. The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons had two studies at its annual conference that presented attendees with new assurances for individuals of any age contemplating hip replacement surgery.
4. One study found that hip implants placed in individuals younger than 50 were still working effectively 35 years after initial implantation.
5. Alexander Miric, MD, assistant chief of orthopedic surgery, was the lead author of a study that focused on hip implants in older patients.
6. While past studies have shown some patients in their 90s experiencing high infection and morality rates, many other patients did quite well after hip replacement surgery.
7. The recent study conducted on hip replacement surgery was the longest in terms of following up on the status of individuals who underwent surgery.
8. The study also found that the original surgeries were functional while the study was ongoing.
