Orthopedic devicemaker Exactech has announced a CEO transition, appointing Aurelio Sahagun to serve in the role.

The transition will happen upon the closing of the company’s pending sale, which is expected to close as soon as October, according to an Aug. 18 news release from Exactech.

In March, a group of investors won a bid for the company and all of its assets.

Mr. Sahagun has more than two decades of experience in the medical device industry, most recently serving as president of North America at the Straumann Group, an orthodontic and dental implant company. He has also served in leadership positions at Microsoft Orthopaedics, Wright Medical Technology and Medtronic.

Mr. Sahagun will succeed Darin Johnson, who is set to assume a strategic advisory role for the new company, the release said.

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
