Here are five things to know:
1. Dr. Braaksma will begin his practice at Orthopedic Associates of Port Huron in September.
2. He is an orthopedic surgeon with a special interest in foot and ankle care. He is the only fellowship-trained foot and ankle surgeon in the area.
3. Dr. Braaksma earned his medical degree from Wayne State University in Detroit and completed an internship and residency in orthopedic surgery at Grand Rapids Medical Education Partner — Michigan State University in Grand Rapids.
4. His additional training includes an extensive fellowship in foot and ankle surgery at Harborview Medical Center — University of Seattle, Wash.
5. Dr. Braaksma is a member of the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society.
