Dr. Peter Mangone performs MIS arthroscopic lateral ankle ligament reconstruction

After Steven Triplett, basketball player with Warren Wilson College, badly twisted his ankle twice, Peter Mangone, MD, of Blue Ridge Bone and Joint Clinic in Asheville, N.C., chose Mr. Triplett for a minimally invasive arthroscopic version of a lateral ankle ligament reconstruction that he and Jorge Acevedo, MD, had developed, reports Citizen-Times.

According to the report, the surgeon makes two small point incisions about a half a centimeter each to allow the scope and surgical instruments to pass through, making a better post-surgery cosmetic appearance and reduced surgical and recovery time.
