Dr. Knute Buehler to run for Congress — 4 things to know

Orthopedic surgeon Knute Buehler, MD, announced Dec. 11 that he will run for the U.S. House of Representatives to replace Rep. Greg Walden, R-Ore., who will not be seeking re-election in 2020, The Source Weekly reports.

Four things to know:

1. Dr. Buehler specializes in hip and knee surgery at Bend, Ore.-based The Center: Orthopedic & Neurosurgery Care and Research.

2. Dr. Buehler, a Republican, represented Bend in the Oregon House of Representatives from 2015 to 2019.

3. Dr. Buehler graduated from Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore.

4. Following medical school, he completed his residency at Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland and fellowship at Scripps Clinic and Research Foundation in San Diego.
