Dr. Kevin Garvin named president-elect of the ABOS

Kevin Garvin, MD, has been named president-elect of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.

Dr. Garvin is the L. Thomas Hood, MD, Professor and Chair of the University of Nebraska Medical Center department of orthopedic surgery and rehabilitation, according to a Nov. 3 news release from the university. 

He has served on the ABOS board of directors since 2018. Prior to that role, he was the president of the North American Hip Society, serving from 2017-2018.

As president-elect and president, Dr. Garvin plans to prioritize the well-being of patients.

Dr. Garvin will take over as president of the board in October 2024, the release said.
