Here is what you need to know:
1. Dr. Weems joins board certified orthopedic surgeon Gregory Smolarz, MD, the medical director of the Christus St. Michael Center for Joint Replacement.
2. Dr. Weems and Dr. Smolarz will perform total knee replacement via Stryker’s Mako robotic arm-assisted technology at Christus St. Michael Health System, the first hospital in the Texarkana area to offer the procedure. They will also perform traditional robot-assisted orthopedic surgery and procedures.
3. Dr. Weems has over 18 years of experience as an orthopedic surgeon and has used robotic arm-assisted techniques for partial knee replacements for several years. He now uses it for total knee replacements as well.
4. He earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern-Dallas.
