Four things to know:
1. The award recognizes a lifetime of excellence and moral virtue that has brought credit to Indiana.
2. Dr. Rapp practiced for 35 years and designed a hip prosthesis for total hip replacement as well as helped found Sofamor Danek, now a division in Medtronic.
3. Previously, Dr. Rapp served as chief of orthopedic surgery and the orthopedic surgery residency program at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.
4. Dr. Rapp also acted as director of the scoliosis clinic at Indianapolis-based Riley Hospital for Children and clinical professor of orthopedic surgery at Indiana University School of Medicine, also in Indianapolis.
