Mary Moore alleged she suffered complications from her wrist fracture due to being denied surgery. According to a lawsuit she filed, Dr. Laman gave her a short-arm cast. A different physician allegedly told Ms. Moore that nonoperative treatment caused misalignment and radiocarpal arthritis, both permanent conditions.

However, a physician testifying in defense of Dr. Laman said Ms. Moore’s symptoms would have developed regardless if she had surgery or not because she had post-traumatic arthritis. The physician also pointed out that Ms. Moore has been able to manage her pain and live an active, independent life.
