Dr. Brian Cohen performs reverse total shoulder replacement live: 4 things to know

Brian S. Cohen, MD, of Adena Orthopedics, performed his reverse total shoulder arthroplasty procedure live via simulcast from Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe, Ohio, reports The Highland County Press.

Here are four things to know:

 

1. The video was broadcast to peers attending “Current Concepts in Joint Replacement” in Las Vegas.

 

2. Dr. Cohen usually demonstrates this procedure for three to four surgeons monthly, he told The Highland County Press.

 

3. In June 2013, Dr. Cohen became the first surgeon in the country to perform a total reverse shoulder implant using the Arthrex Reverse Universe device, according to the report.

 

4. Over 500 peers attending CCJR viewed the broadcast, which was moderated by Tony Romeo, MD.
