Dr. Gross is weighing a run as an independent.
He earned his medical degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle. In 2013 after becoming disillusioned with the U.S. healthcare system, Dr. Gross quit his orthopedic practice.
He returned to school to study healthcare economics and earned a master’s of public health at the University of California, Los Angeles.
Since then Dr. Gross has been back in Alaska, working to reform the state’s healthcare system and views a seat in the U.S. Senate next year as an opportunity to make real change.
